I must share my own Peter Pan tragedy. Years ago, in the beginning of my theatrical career, I was an intern with Memphis Playhouse on the Square. Their annual Christmas extravaganza was Peter Pan and us interns were required to be a part of the show. Not only were we stage characters (performing god-awful Captain Hook square dances) but we were manually dexterous assistants backstage -- I had the utter misfortune of having to fly the kids on an antiquated rope/pulley system that got stuck far more than it worked. Couple that with having to hear the tinny, keyboard heavy happy music at 7AM for school matinees and you have misery atop madness for an entire 3 week period. THIS ACTING CHILDREN is what is known as paying your dues and the experience has left the name of Peter Pan as a bad taste in my mouth forever. Apparently the TV hasnt done so well with it either!!!
