I must share this story... Kinda long but worth it. I am currently on the road and crashed in a motel last night. I woke up with a strong desire to go to church. I simply asked God to just lead me and give me a sign as to where to go. I was in an unknown area. I then proceeded to get ready, went down to the lobby where the continental breakfast was and had a bowl of Crunch. There is a conference room immediately off the lobby area and I observed a neatly dressed man setting up chairs in the conference room. Time passed and he had a projector, screen and speakers set up and then put a sign up just outside the conference room doors which was a Church Sign with the name of the church and the meeting time. HERES YOUR SIGN... So without hesitation I felt led to attend church here. After all, I asked for a sign and guidance and well... God didnt even let me leave the hotel! :) There were approximately 40 chairs set up. I walked in, introduced myself to the pastor and took a seat... with flip flops and shorts. The Pastor and I did have a pleasant conversation and right on time, he began service... Just me, him and one other person. He gave a very POWERFUL and passionate sermon. Service concluded and he then thanked me for coming and introduced me to the other lady attending service... his wife. I was overcome with respect at this point for his passion and willingness to deliver a sermon as if there was standing room only. **LESSON** When i left, I asked myself and God... Why did you lead me to this service? My answer immediately came to me: Maybe this service was to show me that if I just took all the important things in my life and engaged myself in them as if there was standing room only, where and at what level would i take my life, my marriage, my parenting... BUT... What if this service was not about me? What if this service was about this man and his wife trying to spread the glory of God and this morning, had I not showed up, they may have become frustrated, felt failure and maybe decided to just throw the towel in? What if by me showing up this pastor delivered a message that someone outside those doors heard and were impacted. Maybe by me showing up this pastor will be back next Sunday and someone will be led to Christ. Not everything is about ME!
