I need advice about a bullying situation at work. Ive been at my current hospital for 2 years. When I first arrived, my manager approached me and asked if I wanted to train for charge nurse (they already have a few who have been doing it awhile). I said no, I was too new at the time and not comfortable etc. Fast forward to now, she asked me again and I said sure. So Ive been trained and am a new charge nurse. However, I have a co worker Ill call Betty who has made work miserable for me in very covert, passive aggressive ways. Betty is a charge nurse too, and ironically came up to me a few months back telling me how I should train for charge nurse and how good Id be at it blah blah blah. She was not the person I expected problems from but heres examples of the behavior Im talking about: - wouldnt acknowledge me during days I was training (blatantly asking the trainer for things vs asking me, whereas others would ask me) - she literally huffed at me when passing me in the hall...like some snorting animal. - talks about me in her native language to others (I see them looking at me when shes doing it) - complimented me on food I made for the unit on thanksgiving, then I caught her red handed telling someone else it was gross. - sits and broods in a corner whenever Im working I consider myself very amicable and easy going. I never want to make waves at work and I consider myself a great team player (always offering to help others). Her behavior is obvious to me though. Seeing as this is very passive its not exactly something I can speak to anyone about because it will just look petty on MY part to complain. So how do I handle this??? Betty has been there longer than I have and is quite fake and two faced. Ive watch her kiss peoples asses (as she so obviously did to me) then turn around and speak ill of them. I know there are people like this in all work places, so whats the best way to handle?
