I need everyones positive thoughts, prayers, and energy. My mom had a heart attack and a stroke and is in the hospital. Here is a copy of a a post my sister April Moore Harris wrote about mom: Last night, we had to call an ambulance for my mother. She collapsed in the living room. At the ER, we were told she had a double whammy. A stroke and a major heart attack at the same time. She was rushed to the cardiovascular unit and a balloon was inserted to open the blocked artery and a large clot was removed. A stint was put in. She was then taken to the CVICU and remains there today. She has wonderful doctors, nurses, and therapy staff taking good care of her. Her speech is very slurred and she is as weak as a kitten. Today, she was evaluated by a speech therapist as well as a team of physical therapists. She is also going to have another CT scan with dye to find out more about the stroke. She is not doing well right now, but is still kicking and is trying very hard. She hates what she perceives as her body betraying her. She gets frustrated with not being able to speak and be understood properly. Getting a bit pissed is actually helping a bit, but then she gets so tired and cannot sleep well with the activity in an ICU unit. If she can get some strength, she will be moved to a private room hopefully tomorrow. That is the goal. I am her advocate and I know what she is trying to say most of the time and will take over for her when she cannot say what she means. She tries to answer a question or ask one, looks at me, shakes her head in frustration, and I know what to say. We have a good connection and I will do everything in my power to make sure she gets the care she needs. She is at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, which is one of the best stroke centers in the state. She is in very good hands and this daughter will make sure those hands keep working on my mom. I ask my friends and family to please use their faith on behalf of my mother and for us as well. Complete recovery for her and strength for us. Mom made Wade and Holly promise to take a trip they had been planning for the past couple of months to Kansas City. She actually stopped the gurney and pulled them to her and said Dont you dare miss that trip! Promise me you will go and have a good time. Dont worry about me. I will be fine. I want you to go. Wade asked me what to do. I told him to keep his promise to her. They will be headed to Kansas City tomorrow and will return on Sunday. That was her wish, and I will not have anyone making judgments about it. She believes she will be ok, and therefore, we must believe it too. Thank you all in advance for your good thoughts and prayers. We really need them. I echo her words....please keep fighting mom...you cant leave us yet, damnit!!! Carol Ray
