I need some advise here. My 13 year old son and I were discussing him getting into trouble. He said it would be ok int the end because hes white. Well, hes far from it. He is on the lighter side yes. I told him to look at the white kids at school and question if he really think he looks like them. We live in a country ass town of around 10,000 I think. So all the kids at school are mostly Caucasian. It is definately not the diversity of races I grew up with. Needless to say, he angered me extremely. Im not showing it. But in the light if the Fergusen case, chokehold cop, and all the ither tragedies were hearing about, Im not trying to be the parent of the next victim, no matter what his race. How am I to help him identify where he comes from, and who he is. Im thinking I rent Roots and Mississippi Burning and every other hate fueled thing. Hes too young for American History X and Romper Stomper. But documentaries on civil Rights movements, Dr king. X and as much on the Holocaust as I can sum up comes to mind. Please, advise.
