I need some help from those involved in the education system in New Jersey and those who celebrate Samhain. On the New Jersey Board of Education calendar of religious holidays it has Samhain listed as November 1st. It is obvious that whoever put this calendar together utilized Wikipedia because they also have it as November 1st, not to mention the fact that they have Beltane also on the 31st. My kids are now being told that October 31st is not the celebrated holiday therefore it is not an excused absence. Who do I speak to about correcting this. My gut tells me the principle is going to stand by the calendar for a great many reasons but Im not letting this go. Any advice? state.nj.us/education/genfo/holidays.htm
