I need to share something that I just figured out after months!!! Every day as we pulled up to my home, Mikey would say to me red X and I never understood what he meant....so my curiosity as to what and why he only said this as we parked got the best of me....I stood in front of the house and asked him...Mikey...do you see a red x? he actually replied YES...I then asked can you show Nana the red x he took my hand and led me to my next door neighbors fence that leads into his alley...I said we cant go in there Mikey, thats not our yard...so I took his hand and said lets go in the house...well he pulled away from me and ran back to the gate and said RED X!! OMG I backed up a few feet and looked at THE GATE! There were red privacy metal slats weaved thru the chain link fence...so I asked Mikey show me the X and sure enough he started to trace all the red Xs he saw....I was amazed and started to read more on what Autistic children see....Mikey is all about letters and numbers and I read that Autistic children see so much different than we do and now I truly believe it!! I didnt see red xs until he pointed it out to me...I saw a chain link fence with red privacy slats weaved thru it... below is a picture similar to the one next door...I wonder what other letters and numbers he sees by just looking at any other ordinary thing?
