I need to tackle a rather thorny issue now, something I’ve put off for as long as possible out of sheer cowardice, but which I now feel forced to address. I know some of you are going to get angry as it involves a subject that certain people here have strong feelings about, namely ‘Six of One’ – The Prisoner Appreciation Society, but I hope that you will put your feelings aside for a short while, at least, and give me a fair hearing. I’ve been contacted by members of our group who tell me that they are afraid (yes, afraid) to post about certain things such as 6of1 conventions, guests or re-enactments because there will be snide, back-handed and plain nasty comments about anything they share. Like I said, I’ve been a coward about saying anything before now because I have friends on both sides of the divide, but what really shook me today was a lady who contacted me because she felt like she was being bullied any time she mentioned 6of1 - and that was straw that broke the camel’s back time for me, Im afraid. So can I kindly ask that from now on the ‘civil war’ be conducted elsewhere. I’m more than aware that some might see this as stifling free speech but, honestly, that’s not what Im about. This Facebook Prisoner group is very much a public site for people from all walks of life to come together and share their enthusiasm for The Prisoner, Patrick McGoohan, Portmeirion and all things related. So, over to you out there, my fellow group members and Prisoner fans: Can we agree to disagree and call a truce here? Tell me the way forward. Discuss (but, please, be polite). PS If people feel that my saying this out loud has compromised my position as a moderator here then I will stand down from the post if that is required of me, no hard feelings. - Ant
