I need to thank Dr. Martin Luther King. Without him as a white woman, I may never have met the many diverse people in my life, because of his belief in we are one . Today I was invited to judge speeches at the U.S. Grant school on Grant Street in Milwaukee by Sagiia Rae. What a privilege it was. The third and four grade classes had children competing and the finalists will represents the school in a city wide contest on December 2nd. The young people were awesome. I dont think I was ever able to stand in front of a group in third or fourth grade and give a speech, let alone it be a serious topic like pollution, or bullying or racism. The kids of today make me what to shout to the world…. We have a chance, because of this future generation coming! Not only did the kids do a good job, but that school is awesome, diverse, and engaging the community around it to make it a school of heart. Thank you all teachers, principal and especially Sagiia for thinking of me. Oh and thank you for the home made treat too!
