I never do this . Really, scroll back over the months and years of my Facebook - my posts are mostly documentation of family and friend events I never want to forget, or they are spirit- filled and uplifting encouragements . I have purposely tried to stay away from sharing any political propaganda and rage that so many of my Christian brothers and sisters spew out on here in the safety of their homes, with their $2k Mac laptops- furiously typing things they would never have the courage to say to a group of people in person. But, when this came across my news feed tonight, something inside made me want to share it on my personal page. There is really no one flashing billboard reason why- except for the most part, it moved me . First, let me say, that I am well aware that racism is still alive and well and I am humiliated at my ancestors and their behavior involving the black race . The humiliation continues as I have sat at the dinner tables of extended family members and older friends and listenened to the bigotry and racism with my very own ears . Shamelessly I have shared an off color joke or two myself, but I stand firm that that was not my norm or my true feelings. Let me just get to the point- im sharing this video for many reasons and Ill name a few . 1. I can share this video because I worship with a community of believers that represents the True diversity of the Kingdom of Christ - my Church represents a wide variety of ethnic and socio economic groups , Black people are a huge part of my congregation and we share a friendship that needs no words and that constantly speaks volumes of respect and learning something new and better about ourselves each and every time we meet. 2. I have black friends that are just as close to me as family/ these friendships have lasted from the time of my childhood until the present. 3. I have the right to share this video because, if I was not already married, I would marry this man! 4. I carry solid relationships with black people that are Christian and that are educated and would absolutely not for one minute advocate the type of behavior that is going on in Ferguson. 5. My black friends know me to my core and they know how much I love them , and I certainly know and stand firm and how much they love me! I haved lived in the same 10 mile radius for 42 years and the black community and the white community get along just fine in my perspective -we all work together for the betterment of our communities and we worship the same God -we have an understanding and a love that knows no bounds racially or spiritually. Having said that, I am aware and not so naïve to know that there are exceptions to my statement- there are white racist bigots that live here and call themselves Christian -and there are black people who cannot stand white people, but they are the minority, not at all the majority. I can share this video because its hilarious and is a stark reminder that we need to stop taking ourselves and our positions in society so serious and if this man lived here, he and I would be best friends! If you are still awake at this point Im sure you are ready for me to wrap it up! I could go on and on and list the reasons why I decided to break away from the norm on my Facebook, but Im going to stop and let this video speak for itself except for the fact that the white people need to hear this and open their hearts to dialogue and conversation and stop tiptoeing around this big elephant in the room- but mostly, we dont just need to be on our knees, we need to be flat on our faces in prayer . And in the the words of Taylor Swifts newest song Bandaids cant fix bullet holes ... White or black , it is indeed time for things to change. P.S. I am really not interested in any negative comments concerning this- as a matter of fact, you will be deleted if you dare try . I am expressing my constitutional right this one time -freedom of speech - freedom rooted in grace at foot of the Cross, which I am quite certain knows no color.
