I never get involved in these discussions, but as more and more - TopicsExpress

I never get involved in these discussions, but as more and more negativity pops up on my newsfeed, I think it’s time I said something. I am not a “creator” of the Joker Blogs, but I’ve been heavily involved in Series II through production and post-production. In fact, I am the person doing most of the visual effects for the show, which brings me to my first point: THE EFFECTS ARE NOT THE REASON FOR ANY DELAYS Somewhere along the line people have been told that the effects are taking too long, and it simply is not true. I do the effects when they are given to me, and I get them done in a timely fashion. The effects for episode 6 have been done for months, so I honestly cannot say what is actually causing the delay. If anyone has ever made a film, they know that the editing process takes the most time of anything, and when none of us live near each other anymore, it takes longer yet. And when we all have jobs and lives outside the blogs, it takes longer yet. And that’s another thing to keep in mind: we are all people, like you, and have bills and rent to pay, so we all have full time jobs, and the blogs had to take a backseat so we could continue to, you know, live. Life is expensive, and so is making a show like this, which leads me to point number two: ALL DONATIONS HAVE GONE DIRECTLY INTO PRODUCTION I’ve seen many accusations about the funds gained from the campaign long ago (and yes, we are well aware it has been a long time). And while I was not in charge of any budgeting, I can promise you this: no money has been “run off with” or anything of the sort. In fact, all the money raised through that fundraiser has already gone into the production. It’s gone. It paid for travel costs for actors, props, transportation, meals for cast and crew, more props, locations, equipment (cameras, mics, lights, batteries, etc.). That means any further costs have come directly out of our pockets. Filmmaking is ridiculously expensive, and there are only four or five of us primary crew members. So while some people are frustrated about donating ten dollars or twenty-five dollars, just keep in mind that the five of us have paid thousands of our own hard earned money over the years, and that doesn’t include payment for the time we put into the show, because point number three is this: NOT A SINGLE CREW MEMBER WAS PAID FOR THEIR WORK Basically everyone working on the show is volunteering their time to the blogs. If you calculated us getting minimum wage, with the hours we put in, we’ve theoretically donated tens of thousands of dollars. This is time we could have spent at our jobs, or on paid film shoots, but instead we spent that time making a show that all of us love so much. We want to see the show finished as much as anyone here, maybe more so. Most of the time we don’t do updates because we are frustrated. We don’t update because there is literally nothing to update on. I’m sure people don’t want a stream of weekly updates saying “still working on the episode.” “Still working on the episode.” “Still working on the episode.” It would get old fast, and everyone knows it. So we stay out of the spotlight, and keep plugging away when we can, because of point number four: THE SHOW WILL BE FINISHED I can’t say when, but I assure you all ten episodes will be released. We vastly underestimated how long this would take, because it is nothing like season one was. We pushed ourselves to make a fantastic and professional product for our fans, because without the fans, none of this would have been possible from the start. We are eternally grateful for the generosity that’s been shown to us, and are constantly amazed at how supportive many of you are. I see artwork and Joker tributes go up on this page all the time, and I love it. So much talent among you all. It’s really quite impressive. I know it’s been a disappointment with how long everything has taken, but remember that we are just as disappointed, because we really do care about the fans (we actually talk about some of them quite often), and I am fairly confident that the incentives offered on the campaign will be fulfilled eventually, because it’s not fair to any of you if you never get your DVDs. But to do that, we need to finish these final episodes, so point number five is this: PLEASE CONTINUE TO BE PATIENT AND SUPPORTIVE I know that many of you feel neglected and betrayed, and I understand, but I have a good feeling about 2015. I have been in touch with the creators, and after they finish up a job out of town (remember that “we have jobs and lives” bit I mentioned earlier), we are going to sit down and figure out how to finish the series as quickly as we can. There are many amazing things happening in the second half of the series, and we’re quite proud of what we’ve accomplished so far. We’re excited to share the rest of the show when we’re able, but I can’t promise updates or a consistent time that we release episodes. I really need you to understand and accept that. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know I rambled a bit, but all of it was important for me to get out. I hope this at least answered some questions and concerns. We appreciate your continued support.
