I never knew the Outlet had a mill on it?!? Its no surprise, however, that those early pioneers used what resources they had. According to H. Duesenberg, The turbine wheel sat in the Outlet race below the mill building. The setup was near the junction of the Outlet and present day South 8th Street. Circa 1899, the mill building was moved to a location on West Main Street near the present day Yacht Club. According to the July 29, 1932, Mason City Globe Gazette, the turbine was removed and sent to Iowa City to become part of a water wheel display at the universitys hydraulic lab.
