I never mention a person by their skin color. However, I am posting this for a purpose. Tonight, I had to go to the store and I was standing in line waiting. This African American police officer came into the store and I could tell he was in a rush. I let him in front of me to go first. I would have done this regardless because I love people for who they are. But with all of the racial tension and the tension between cops and citizens now a days, I wanted him to know that I appreciated him beyond his skin color and that I appreciated him for protecting our city. I want to encourage all people to please show appreciation to our police offers who put their lives on the line every day. Just because you might not agree with the actions of one doesnt mean they are all that way. Many work hours on end, rarely see their families and go without sleep! Please look beyond a persons skin color and look at them for who they are. In the words of Trayvon Martins Mother: A heart has no color-its not black and its not white!
