I never post on facebook, but something has been driving me crazy and I dont know how else to get the word out. If you live in Austin, you are aware of the current mopac improvement project. Over 200 million dollars is being wasted to add ONE SINGLE lane to the northbound and southbound sides of mopac and it does not include adding any lanes to the bridge over the river (where most of the congestion occurs). We may as well flush that money down the toilet. ONE LANE! are you kidding? Not to mention it will be a toll lane with a variable rate. Also, 20 million is being spent on 7 miles of sound walls. Are these walls to be decorated with gold and precious stones? This plan will do little to nothing to fix congestion problems here! You can check the info at mopacexpress/ . If you or anyone you know is involved with designing roads and highways in Austin, please stop. Just leave and dont come back to work. You are wasting peoples time and money, and worse their health. By the way, is there already a group working to fight the staggering incompetence currently demonstrated by those responsible for roadway design in Austin? If so, just point me in the right direction.
