I never rant, especially on Facebook, but this has really been bothering me lately... Can I just say that I absolutely hate the fact that restaurants are relying on ME to pay THEIR employees through MY tips!!! I pay good money as it is just to sit down and dine at your restaurant; the service should be included with what I am purchasing. It is everywhere else. When I walk into a clothing store I dont have to tip the person who helps me pick out an outfit, brings me different things in the fitting room, or swipes my credit card. What the hell is up with this $3.50 an hour BS? I believe in tipping my servers, but I had no idea their employers were relying on ME to pay the other 2/3 of their wages!?! Servers should be fully compensated by their employers. Not a little bit from them and the rest from me!?! What a sham! Im in customer service. I know what great customer service is. I cant however tell you the last time I really received it... I ordered a beer from the bar tender he reached not even an arms length to grab it, cracked it open, hands it to me and says $5.50. Stands there and waits for me to fish out that extra dollar or two for his tip. Im sorry sir, but you didnt even move your feet, not even a smile or hello, and you wait for a TIP?!? Nah bro. Provide me with conversation or really any other service than handing me something and maybe well talk. This man is forced to make eye contact with me and pretty much beg, or guilt me into giving him the money his EMPLOYER should be! $5.50 is too much for a beer to begin with, which means its marked up for the service it takes to get it to me!!! The guys at the top keep raking in the big margins and Im left paying their employees. Have to admit thats a pretty good one... What happens in the article below is really quite awful and only marginally relates to my rant. The servers point of view is a very interesting read.
