I never saw any potential change as an easy means to make myself more money on SC, I just thought that we as a whole devalue our product way too much. Yeah, in other business realms competitors dont get together to discuss pricing, but like Epik said in his post, they also have enough sense not to throw the whole market to shit to turn a profit. Those businesses are selling near an equilibrium price. Low enough to be reasonable for consumers to consistently purchase, but high enough to not lower the overall value of the market or sell themselves out of business. They make their additional sales through various limited time promotions and special offers, not through permanently lowering the core price of their product. The latter is what you see a lot of on the online beat market. Im sure online producers as a whole are selling wellll below equilibrium, but since the production cost of making a beat is so low, there is little immediate consequence to selling low, just the long term consequence of lowering overall market value. But If everyone is ok with 5 for 1 sales now, then I guess it is what it is.
