I never thought Id see a day where Executive order 14-14 was issued, and folks are talking about celeb weddings more than the reality of what continues to happen, especially to our young people, on a regular basis. At what point will reality become more important than escapist illusion? What does personal opinions about how someone is dressed for a wedding have to do with much of anything anyhow? Or is the real issue that the current state of partnership dis-unity creates a reality wherein were not yet used to seeing Black weddings on a regular basis?? I just dont get it, however I suppose if anyone from the Knowles camp started speaking up about #Ferguson #MikeBrown #OscarGrant #EzellFord #JohnCrawford #EricGarner #KimaniGray #AlanBlueford #KennethHardingJr., and far too many more to list, then Id actually give half a rats a** about the happenings of celeb personal lives. You see community, you cant curse and blame the society you allow to oppress you on the one hand, while being in bed w/its spell-casting media creations on the other, and fueling a flame for folks who have at no point in time vocalized any regard or concern about the state of collective existence outside the world of the entertainment industry. May we all grow to care about the nameless (and more often than not invisible) youth on the corner and everyday people, as much as we do about media created personalities. If not, dont get all bent out of shape when decades go by and nothings changed.
