I never tire of viewing the Stained Glass at St Lukes and it is only in the past few years that I discovered the information as to who undertook the commission to make and install the windows. Possibly a Ghost Story - Having almost completed the draft of the recent book St Lukes an Appreciation (Still available) I was researching the Stained glass windows and attended a gathering in the church some 2 years ago prior to taking a group round the grounds for Heritage Days. I noticed an elderly gentleman who was looking at the windows through a small pair of binoculars. I introduced myself and chatted re the windows and I said If I only knew who made them? thats easy replied the elderly gentleman come with me and he took me to one of the windows Christ healing the sick and he pointed at the Right hand panel. Look just below the foot there is your answer. I looked and there was inscribed AL Moore Del et Pinxit Latin for he delighted and painted 89 Southampton Row London WC and there was the answer. I turned to thank the gentleman and he had gone. Spooky!
