I never understood the logic behind not allowing the terminally ill suffering patient to have a choice in preserving their dignity to die. I should know because my uncle who died from Stage 4 Prostate Cancer said: I wish I could end this suffering right now and die with dignity. We never knew or felt what theyve been through, maybe its time to listen and show compassion. I know this subject is a big taboo. Sure, the life expectancy now is longer but so often the end of our lives involves living in a facility (hospice) or bedridden where one just hopes to die when they were in agonizing pain. The endless trips to the doctor, hospital and taking a lot of medications, all for the sake of keeping one’s heart beating. I think if my mind is sound, I would want to go on, but if body are gone, why? Why prolonging their pain, give them the choice to decide for themselves...im just saying :)
