I never used anything that I learnt in school or college. I did - TopicsExpress

I never used anything that I learnt in school or college. I did electronics in 11th and 12th grade and then studied Mechanical Engineering. And then last 24 years or more I have been working in Software. My main interest was always investments. Through which I would not have made a dime had I been in India. But even in US, I did not make much. I was in complete love with my parents and Amravati even though I was in Pune and US for most of my career. Because I could not live with them in Amravati, for very personal reasons, I destroyed myself, all the investments I had. Knowingly I lost all the wealth that I had accumulated till 2007. It was a bad emotional decision. Period since 2007 has been a nightmare for me. Now I have 100 dollars and expenses are 4000 dollars. In US it is very easy to get loans and survive. We got house loan, car loan, which would not have been possible in India. I just mismanaged my life because of heavy dose of emotions. Thats another reason I never progressed in my career. I have tremendous investment brain which would have made me monetarily very successful in US. I have tremendous risk taking attitude as well. But because of my emotional nature, I lost the battle. In couple of months we would know which school my daughter is going to. She probably would graduate from very good school, in the field of her interest. I think she has a bright future ahead. My son is still in seventh grade. So he still has time to enjoy. I messed up big time, otherwise I would have been very successful. I have a contract now with Credit Suisse. I think I will do very well in this job. The whole purpose of this job is to be busy and earn bread for the family. We will have to take loans for everything now, for kids education, marriage all the big events. But I do not mind that. As long as kids study in good schools and are happy with their careers I will be fine. We have had very good friends over the years in Pune, Melbourne Australia, Phili, USA and in Cary, USA. We have never had to take financial help from any of our friends, so thats a good thing. We have lived very well, even though in bare minimum for last 6-7 years. My wife has been a tremendous asset in these years, she has never demanded anything that I couldnt afford. I have never bought her any jewelry. Whatever happened has happened. Whatever opportunities are gone are gone. I had a very good friend in Australia, who is doing very well in California now. I am very happy for all the friends who are doing exceptionally well. Life is tough now but can change for better in future. I have to keep faith. There are many people who are in worse situation than I am.
