I normally do not comment on gossip as I think many things get - TopicsExpress

I normally do not comment on gossip as I think many things get twisted in the rescue world, however, I have to speak on something. Im VERY frustrated and disheartened that there is someone/some people spreading untrue comments about how we handled a recent vet help application. Ive had a few people send emails/call very upset with things they heard, saying they no longer support Killuminati, they arent going to come to Project Puppy, etc. Yet I would think most people know me, and know KF well enough to know how we do things. We are a very small charity - our budget is MINUSCULE and it all comes from us busting our butt to make anything we can. We have NEVER turned down a qualified applicant. And in some cases that has meant me writing a check out of my personal checking account just so we could help. It is true, as per our guidelines, a dog must be spayed or neutered to be able to qualify. HOWEVER, as per our guidelines on Page 2 item #10, if the dog is not spayed/neutered already, if that is done at the time of the procedure applying for, we can review the application at that time with proof of spay/neuter. We have done this several times in the past where we discuss with the vet, get confirmation from the vet that the spay/neuter will be done at the time of surgery, and they send us paperwork after the surgery to confirm that the dog is fixed. We cannot send a check to the vet until we have that confirmation. Many things have been said in the last 24 hours that are simply untrue and is very frustrating. I have to be candid, Im very disheartened and saddened by whatever has been twisted and been said about Killuminati recently. I know there has been a lot of untrue statements on facebook and floating around, and it completely discredits all the blood, sweat, and tears and all the work KF does. None of us are paid - we all do this in our free time because we are passionate about animals, helping people, and keeping families together. We help as much as we can however, we are VERY limited on funds. The only money we have is strictly from events/fundraisers. We do not have a planned giving or consistent donors, donations, etc. It is super frustrating to hear KFs name and work discredited on something untrue. I hope you will let everyone know that we were following our guidelines which we are bound by. If we make an exception, we open ourselves up to litigation, getting stripped of our 501c3, etc and then we couldnt help anyone. I have worked tirelessly to build up the Killuminati brand which has so quickly been discredited from this one case of falsehood. I appreciate all of you know support KF and the work we do. Rescue, vet help, and animal welfare related work is a thankless world - but when we fight each other, no one wins. KF does this for the animals, to save the animals and as a domino affect help families/people. When we bicker and spread gossip/drama, how does that help the animals? How does that help anyone? I appreciate those of you who know me, KF, and know that none of what has been said in the last 24 hours is true bc you know thats not how we operate or how I conduct myself/business. I would hope that most of you would see this for what it is - a falsehood rather than a fact and know me better than that. This is all I will comment on this case as I dont want to give it any more fuel as it has already had far more than its share of time. Thank you to our continued supporters!! We appreciate you more than you know and look forward to seeing you at Project Puppy!! Many blessings, Jeanna Callahan President & Founder Killuminati Foundation
