I note that I asked three residents of Moncton or nearby to please post a firsthand eyewitness account of any kind about the shooter loose in the town. I have yet to see one. Please do so, Monctonians! And please understand (again): I am not questioning that this is a real story -- I am trying to VERIFY it. That is what journalists are supposed to do. You do it with two firsthand accounts that confirm each other, journalism 101. Mark Taliano, a terrific op ed writer for DailyCloudt, has fully documented how Canada is being led down the same fascist path as the US. And I always remind you of the day when I went to CNN where they were broadcasting in detail a story about a decapitated water skiier (yes) that had ONE source -- a rightwing Texan sheriff connected to the Republican establishment - and which they ADMITTED was sourced by this one guy -- and that then WE COULD NOT CONFIRM by any account in news or by readers anywhere in the area in Mexico where this was supposed to have happened. Let alone the day in CNN recently when the producer admitted that THE WHITE HOUSE was the source for most of their reporting on the Nigerian schoolgirls. THIS IS WHY WE VERIFY using citizens -- there is simply no reason to not assume at times that major news outlets know, have reported out, or even understand the sourcing of the talking points they are being given by official spokepeople and law enforcement.
