I note that many of us love to call the talk shows and make statements like the government and the education system failed the youth but I beg to differ simply because the facts show differently. All of us who are 40 plus came through the same educational system and live with the rotation of the same political parties and politicians in many respects, yet we persevered. We got our education and learned and displayed manners and respect for others (for the most part). My question is, what has changed? I put it to you the difference is in the parenting. I’m not saying that politicians and educators or any other service person should not be held accountable for the societal roles they play but let’s stop trying to avoid placing the blame for our societal ills where it belongs; with the parents. Parents, you must have clear expectations of your children and help them set goals for their lives. Allow them to see you working diligently to achieve your goals and living Godly principles and they (for the most part) will follow what you do and not so much what you say. As the famous saying goes, “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.”
