I noticed Craig Anderson asking what a 2nd Fish was. For those of you who are unsure of rank aboard Aberdeen Trawlers..here are a few dictionary definitions.. 1. Deckhand.... A highly experienced, highly intelligent, extremely good looking man of the sea..who is capable of performing any task, anywhere, any time..including cabaret song and dance and comedy. 2... Second Fisherman... This is a deckhand who has suffered serious dillusions of Grandeur..usually after a nasty fall...or a good bang to the back of the napper (the condition is, unfortunately irreversable) 3... Mate.. . This was a pet gorilla the deckhands took to sea for a laugh..it could be found roaming the ship, growling and making all sorts of indecipherable noises, and for common safety, was kept down in the fishoom every watch.. 4. Skipper.. This is a deckhand who is beyond all earthly help. 5.. Engineer.. The men who looked after the heart of the ship...and probably the most important cog in the wheel.. ;-)
