I often disagree with Irminsul on political issues. But this - TopicsExpress

I often disagree with Irminsul on political issues. But this comment on love and marriage is spot on: At the risk of (ironically, considering my political sentiments) sounding like a regressive fuddy duddy, the increasing divorce rate and apparent alienation we are experiencing in interpersonal relationships is rooted in some of our society-wide ills. Namely, our lack of ability and will to make decisions and abide by them. We want it all in everything, with no risk of loss of anything. ADHD? Im beginning to suspect this is no disease at all, but more like a social sanctioned bit of ill behavior. Refusal to focus, refusal to prioritize your attention and make some decisions. We want to be alone, but we want companionship We want fidelity, but we want our freedom We want sovereignty, but we want to know well be saved by someone else should the need arise. We want to be geeks, but we dont want to learn anything. The list goes on and on. All emblematic of unwillingness to open to another and risk becoming ONE, which carries long term commitments.
