I often find myself doing the simplest of tasks, which on the surface would seem totally normal to a casual observer, but are layered with complexity for me. Tonight I headed to the mall to get Chris his daily vegetable juice from the juice bar. As I left the hospice, Lachie was jumping over bean bags in the hospice living room, and Chris was resting in his room. I arrive at the juice bar and stand there reading through the extensive list of options, trying to select the best detox juice for Chris and immune bosting option for Lachie. At times it’s impossible to extract cancer from our lives and I do wonder if there will be a time when it won’t be dictating so many of my daily decisions. It’s been less than 3 months since we ceremonially left the Choc ward at the end of Lachie’s hospital based treatment, ready to embark upon a new phase in our life. And tonight I am in a hospice room with my husband, sharing a pull out couch with Lachie as we look after his dad. Both are snoring away…it’s like surround sound. I’m taking the collective snoring as a good sign that both my boys may get a good night’s sleep. The fact that we’re all together again has brought a sense of calm and may prove more effective than modern medicine…of which you have all probably gathered I am a BIG fan of…but sometimes there is a lot to be said to taking a holistic approach to healing. Judging by the way the hospice is run, I think they came to this conclusion a long time ago :-) So on that note, I have a cuppa tea and a pink lamington waiting for me so I will sign out for the night. Thank you all for your wonderful messages of support…we love reading them and draw strength from everyone’s support. Have a great weekend!
