I often get asked how I make time to fit exercise in to my lifestyle. I am a mum of two under 4, I manage a gym 18.5 hours each week and I run Revitalize Fitness and the Fit Mums sessions. As a mum I think we are all experts in multi tasking, and that goes for exercise too. I try to fit exercise into family time so lots of walks and running about in the park. I also try to run or cycle to work once a week, my favourite form of multi tasking!! I have been known to do a circuit of squats in the bathroom while the kids are in the bath!!! However I do also believe that as a mum you should have regular time off and for me that time is a Saturday morning. I have a rota with hubby so I have independent (no kids attached!) Exercise time on a Saturday morning and he does on a Sunday morning. This way we still have plenty of time to do family stuff after and neither of us feel guilty about asking for time off. It also means that I can invite friends along with me (more multi tasking!!!) My exercise time is usually a long run but you could go swimming or a gym session. It is really important to me that I am strong and fit but the main reason I find the time to exercise is because I am being a positive role model to my kids who are growing up in an active family and seeing that as normal. Not a chore or something to dread.
