I often hear the debate about how great and awesome Tommy Oliver, the Green Dragon Ranger, and White Tiger Ranger, was or is, and how hes the best and greatest ranger of all time. And let me tell you what I think: Hes overhyped and overrated. I mention this because recently I had a discussion with someone and we talked about a what-if battle between the Green Dragon Ranger of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the White Dino Thunder Ranger (White Drago Ranger) of Power Rangers: Dino Thunder, and I often hear a lot of folks saying Tommy (Green) would beat Trent (White). Lets clear up one thing: [1] Even as the Green Dragon Ranger, he was one of the most powerful foes the current Power Rangers ever encountered and he almost won. But he was still beaten by the Red Tyrannosaurus Ranger. [2] How? Well, the Green Ranger had the Dragon Shield (which comes with auto-guard and reflected powers to backfire powers), Dragon Dagger (which reinforces said Dragon Shield and apparently can conjure green lightning bolts), Sword of Darkness (which boosts his current power levels greatly and can send shockwaves into the ground). [3] Now, the Red Ranger had his Power Sword (which can be charged with energy and throw at a great speed) and the Blade Blaster (a short blade and gun in one). [4] Even against all those power-ups the Green Ranger had, the Red Ranger still won. Even you want to talk about their Super Sentai counterparts, Dragon Ranger and Tyranno Ranger, you might not want to bring that up, because in comparison, our Red Ranger didnt out right deal the final triple blows to our Green Ranger like Tyranno Ranger did to Dragon Ranger, knocking him completely out of his Ranger form and destroying his sword. [5] If you want to take it to the next level, Tommy came at Jason with the intent of killin- I mean destroying him. Jason came at Tommy with the intent of stopping him and changing him back. Which means, more than likely, Jason held back and didnt go all-out, meaning Jason won by holding back. That means, if Jason didnt hold back, Tommy would have been kill- I mean destroyed, or at least severely injured in a major way. [6] Even as the White Tiger Ranger, he was a decent leader but far from the best. Under his leadership, the following was lost: all 5 Thunderzords, White Tiger Thunderzord, Original Power Coins (which means you also lost the power to summon Tor the Shuttlezord, a zord he could have summoned to help them due to Tors ultimate defense, but did not), all 5 Ninjazords, and due to time reverting while under his leadership, all 5 Shogunzords. Finally, Im not knocking Tommy Oliver as the White Tiger Ranger or Green Dragon Ranger; he was cool and powerful, but he is overrated and overhyped primarily due to nostalgia. This is all from my observation.
