I often question alot of things and something came over me and made me read my bible about tithing: i never really understood the purpose of giving 10% of money to the church so i decided to read for myself and not go by what i been told and the bible in the old testament speak about tithing to support the levites which were the high priest it required tithing animals and produce which was specifically for the religious and,social system of ancient israel on an agricultural economy leviticus 27:30-33 numbers 18:21-28 tithing met the needs of widows orphans foreigners etc deutoronmy 26:12-13 the new testament is which applies to Christians does not specify rules of tithing but jesus did teach to share generously whatever your talents abiltities and wealth god entrusted you with, people often say be a cheerful giver yes thats true but you give to help those in need and its not just talking an about money it can be giving education to others or showing mercy or giving encouragement, let him do so cheerfully romans 12:6-8 it does not specify a certain amount or percentage to give directly to the church most of the old testament is not applicable because before jesus it was the law if we was to still suppose to be living by the law there was no reason for jesus to come on the scene one last point id like to make is what can God do with our money , the very thing which he speaks against no riches can save man so why would he need it?? My point is i dont feel guilty for not tithing money to a church because i am the church my body is a living sacrifice id rather give my 10 percent to a poor man in need then a building #some people may be offended but its in the word! Read yourself and not go by what is preached to you everyone interpret things differently and this is just how i see it prove me wrong #ill wait#THAT
