I once read somewhere that the definition of a lady or gentleman is someone who strives to make others around them as comfortable as possible. I feel that this dictum is important in libertarian circles, because as you know, these crowds tend to be plagued by socially retarded individuals. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with shyness or a general distaste for groups. That kind of social retardation is completely harmless and I even find it endearing. The other kind of social retardation, however, comes from those who do and say things that make those around them uncomfortable; that is, they neglect to be a lady or gentleman. My unsought advice to libertarians: If you are shy or awkward or - hell, even afflicted with Aspergers - its okay. Its totally cool. But if you knowingly do and say things that make others around you uncomfortable, you need to rethink your game.
