I only had him for half of a season when I was an assistant and he slip right past me... As a coach, you dive into your playbook, your offense, your defense, your special teams and all the in betweens. But most importantly, you dive into your players. As much as Ive always tried to be involved in my boys (and girls) lives, I know there are opportunities Ive missed. Lookin back at those opportunities, it really hurts to think I couldve made a better effort. From this day forward, I will make that effort. Its our responsibility to know who they are...its our responsibility to know what theyre goin through...its our responsibility understand what makes em tick! We do what we do to provide a competitive foundation, a knowledge and work ethic of the game that will help guide them and lead them to their dreams. We are in the business of building character and confidence that will help mom and dad make them into strong productive caring members of society and hopefully repeat the process all over again. Our words can be inspirational and motivational, but not if we dont speak em. I challenge OUR community leaders OUR churches OUR teachers OUR coaches OUR parents OUR students and OUR athletes to get involved and make an effort...I will.
