I opt my 6th grade daughter out. I was the first and only one to do so. I had already spoken to the principle and had it all worked out, But the teachers wanted to speak with me also. I was glad to do so, of course they wanted her to take the test and I understand why; But I communicated with my school and handled it with respect. I feel we can not make it us v the school and teachers. We are going to need everyone: parents, school and teachers to get things to change. Just remember that teachers hands are tied and most want change as much as we do. They have a thankless job already and have been working hard all year with our children to prepare them for this test only to have students refuse. I have compassion for them and wish it could be different. We need to remind them and communicate with them that we appreciate all they do for our kids and that we want this change as much for them as we do for our children. Stand up for what is right, but there are right and wrong ways to do it.
