I ought to have no expectation of dwelling where God dwells unless - TopicsExpress

I ought to have no expectation of dwelling where God dwells unless I have a character fully assimilated to His. Unless I love with a full and undivided heart what He loves, and hate what He hates, and all that He hates with a hatred full, entire, uniform, perpetual, like His own, there must not be in me an approach to any thought or feeling which is not in perfect, full-hearted, and joyous agreement with what God is and with everything that God does. I thought thats a nice way of saying it. How can I expect to spend eternity with God if half the time my thoughts are entirely opposite of Gods thoughts. If, when someone crosses me, the first thing that comes into my mind is retaliation – how would I have joy in the presence of God? Can we really love what God loves and hate what God hates?- Charles Fitch
