I participated in a discussion today about judgments women receive for wearing certain types of clothing. I argued that it is offensive to suggest that women deserve to be treated a certain way based on the type of clothing they choose to wear. They should be free to wear what they want without suffering any lack of respect from men. And yet, sometimes I feel I too am committing offense, as if I am in a position of granting that permission to women. Ive never had a woman tell me what I, as a man, can and cant wear. Why are men still having these discussions about women?
