I perceive a seething anger in South Africa. An anger born of disillusionment with the rituals of formal representative democracy and its absolutely failure to achieve even the most basic expectations of the people of this land. If the system is incapable of the most basic things such as oerating a postal system, supplying electricity, decent education and health or services how can it be expected to address the major challenges of inequality, unemployment, poverty and homelessness. The hoary old mantra of letting the private sector do it is also wearing thin as the corruption involving contracts to the private sector, and the cost exclusivity of any services or products offered by the private sector attests. The majority of South Africans are too poor to afford the private sector and very angry at the failures of the public sector and dismiss the collusion between the two as evidence of a failed system. Enough is enough! It is time for something new.
