I personally think the mind is separate from the brain and is not - TopicsExpress

I personally think the mind is separate from the brain and is not confined by it nor the body. This is a view being held by an exceeding number of neuroscientists today (goo.gl/WFln1s). Neuroscientific materialism cannot explain the placebo effect, self-healing, meditation, hypnosis, and near-death and mystical experiences. I conducted a double-blind neuroscience study in the past few months myself, in which the placebo effect actually worked. In this NDE case, Pam Reynolds brain waves essentially stopped as per the EEG readings, so there was no neural mechanism for dreaming/hallucinating during her NDE. And she somehow saw herself leaving her body and hearing the doctors say a specific sentence, which the medical logs afterwards revealed they did indeed say precisely, while she couldnt have possibly heard at the time because she was under deep anesthesia and her brain was non-functional. This leads credence to the idea that the soul (or mind) exists and is not part of our physical brains or bodies, and may persist even after our deaths. #neuroscience #brains #soul #mind
