I persuaded the other divisions of my school to take on the international division in an Olympics-style competition. This was a wildly popular idea with all the kids, who were excited to end the first week of school in a fun way. We marched thousands of kids a couple miles to a huge park and the fierce battle, which included singing, dancing and athletics, complete with prizes to the winning divisions, took place. I continue to be ASTOUNDED by these students and this culture. It is hard to put into words how completely impressed I am with the way the Chinese people live and interact with one another. Theyve taken me in as one of their own and it was something to hear thousands of kids I didnt even know a week ago chant my name when it was my turn to do battle in a game called The Angry Hen.
