I picked this as my New Year video, for many reasons- its kind of haunting, well known to my generation, and I love her voice :) but also because not all is ha-ha-ha happy as we enter the New Year. Sometimes it is hard to look back & see that nothing has seemingly changed for us in a whole year!! whats up with that?! Some of us just hate change of any kind- upsets our comfort quota. Some folks struggle from the tension of holding onto the past- the happy moments & the memories- even the bad ones are at least familiar. Some struggle to go on after devastating losses- failed jobs or marriages, loss of parent, sibling, child. Some of these are good reasons for feeling badly, but none are excuses to live without hope... so, what is holding us back from taking hope in the future? I think its a lack of faith mostly. we doubt that things CAN get better. we doubt that things are influenced by us in any way. (who even votes anymore?) we dont think we can change anything- I succumb to such thoughts myself sometimes. but for us who profess to BELIEVE, such foolish thinking is NOT for us- we ourselves must listen to the One who Knows, and quit relying on the media, the govt or the current state of our feeling.
