I played Thursday evening at an opening ceremonial Seafair event - TopicsExpress

I played Thursday evening at an opening ceremonial Seafair event at MOHI. I had a little amp and a mic and they put by one of the food tables near the stage. I have to say that I have not been so successfully ignored in years. Even songs about Bradley/Chelsea Manning went by like they werent even there. I played for an hour and then sat down to eat. As luck would have it I was right in front of the stage so I caught it all. I wont do all the details but I still say that most of the people there were either Seafair board or investers, Boeing hot shots, or military. Lots of Navy pilots, also a few retired Marines. Among other things we were told to make sure to watch the amazing military maneuver that was going to happen directly after one of the Blue Angel runs at Lake Washington. You dont want to miss it, said the smiling Boeing executive. I was left with an understanding of what this particular focal weekend actually is. So to all my Seattle friends: As you survive your way through the Blue Angel flyovers and the Navy cruiser displays, the hydroplane excesses and shore leave patrols, keep in mind that this particular Seafair weekend mainly belongs to Boeing and the US Navy. Call it what you will, I call it a corporate/military recruitment festival.
