I pledged in the Iota Xi chapter in Edinboro University in Fall - TopicsExpress

I pledged in the Iota Xi chapter in Edinboro University in Fall 2012. I remember being reluctant, because I did not want to be part of greek life. It is just not who I am, but a couple of my friends, now brothers, encouraged me to at least check it out. I think one of the best things that could have happened to me in my four years of undergraduate studies is becoming a brother. Unlike high school, university was tough. I had to study more, get used to living alone, and adjusting to campus food. This took a lot of time out from being able to do what I love, such as volunteering. Forget doing it, I barely had time to find out where I can go to do it. In 2012, some of my friends came to me and suggested rushing APO. At first I was hesitant, but I took a shot anyways. I’m glad I did, because even as I graduate this semester, I know this brotherhood is for a lifetime; and I have every intention of keeping it that way. Through Alpha Phi Omega, I found long life friends and people I know I can count on. Although I never held any positions, I feel like through modeling, I have gained more qualities and have become a better leader. Also, I have been able to volunteer and help out for so many different causes. We don’t raise money for just ONE cause, we are open to endless opportunities and we make those choices ourselves! At times, when I go out, I find out about others who were also part of another chapter or that they know or knew someone who was part of a chapter of Alpha Phi Omega. It is an amazing feeling to meet other brothers of Alpha Phi Omega, especially knowing that we are all very different but share the same values: Leadership, Friendship, and Service!
