I post this from my hotel balcony in the tropical Edenic Island of Seychelles, surrounded by the warm Indian Ocean waters which are just a mere 20m away, an exquisite sunset in the horizon, and a couple of mountains protruding out of the clean ocean. Even an infidel ought to concur, God is alive! He who has blunted his spiritual perceptions by sinful leniency toward those whom God condemns, will erelong commit a greater sin by severity and harshness toward those whom God approves. – {AA 504.1} In summary, if we compromise when we are supposed to hate sin. If we fear to LOVINGLY rebuke the sinner who is clearly on a rebellious and misleading path of apostasy and sin, then we will be partakers of the same sin and we will misdirect our harshness to those approved of God. A Sobering thought coming from an authentic inspiration!!! Bonhoeffer the theologian said, ‘Nothing can be more cruel than that leniency which abandons other to their sin. Nothing can be more compassionate than that severe reprimand which calls another Christian in one’s community back from the path of sin.’ The Zulu Hymn book has a profound hymn, Buya mzuli Buya, buyela ekhaya... (Come back home wanderer...) some are lost in the church, some have openly left the church and others dont know they are lost. It is our duty to call them HOME. To do so we need the ingredients of love, kindness, compassion and perseverance.
