I post this not to pick on any one group or faire, but this is unfair to claim. Looking at the RPFS website, I saw the following listing for a troupe: St. Nicholas Home for Wayward Children Babies built the Renaissance, and at St. Nicholas Home for Wayward Children, youll meet a menagerie of children wearing authentic Renaissance wear. In my opinion, participants in military, court, monger, etc. guilds, regardless of their level of interest, automatically imply to audiences that they are representative of the reality of the Renaissance. I could be quite wrong, but from what I can tell from the photo, its standard fairewear and it appears to be a pretty blatant misrepresentation. Ill admit Im more touchy than most and appreciate that faires are theme parks, but I hope that, frankly, this group looks somewhat closer to what we know about the period than what it appears to be in the picture. Can anyone shed some light on this?
