I posted a couple of days ago about how Pittsburgh gives every child in their school district a free school breakfast and lunch. The statistics are through the roof both in terms of how many kids go to school hungry, and how much of a difference having proper nutrition makes to academic performance. So why cant every school in the state do this? Maybe we should copy the great ALS dunk challange and start some other challange to get schools to provide nutrition to their kids. Maybe we could jump into a vat of apple-sauce, or feed a finger to a piranha, or something like that. But whatever it is, we should start talking to our legislators (Ill talk to mine!) about doing that this year.
