I posted this back in APRIL and I wanted to repost this for people to think about for 2015: On behalf of my pastor friends.... What kind of church would your church be if every member was just like you ? Would it be dead, uncommitted, unfaithful, unproductive, no enthusiasm, etc.... Its hard to find a good church that preaches the truths of His word and is solid but when you find one dive in with both feet and call it home. Living in a pastors home...I.know whats its like and what is appreciated by them from their members. First and foremost. You need to be COMMITTED and grounded in your church. Dont be a church hopper, here today/gone tomorrow. After the new wears off you get bored. No no but sink your feet in, through the good and the bad, when its on fire and when its in a slump. Every service isnt going to be a high. Be FAITHFUL. You should definitely be there at the appointed times. Thats your church and it should hold your support. If you are faithful to God, youll be faithful to desire to be in His House on His day to worship Him. Anything you put before Him is in competition with Him and your love for Him. Be SUPPORTIVE...This also applies not to just the service times....But also to activities and functions. It is not your pastors job to do all the work. Whether it is work day, janitorial day, fun day, grass day, outreach day, bus ministry, children church, nursery, car wash, yard sale, visitation, cook out , ect. Especially special services like revivals or other events. Be a NON-FLOATER, meaning you dont have a floating membership. Meaning You mainly just want to jump around to whats exciting at the time. Jump from one fire to another. No no you must be the spark that start the fire if needed be at your church. Then help fan the flames that others will catch on fire too. Your pastor should have a burden for your church as well. If so, he has spent time of fasting, praying, and studying the word,,, then preparing messages for each service. Be there to hear it. He is the one that loves you, will go to the hospital, at times see the sick more thats his own family. Loves on the hurting. Listens and counsels with you. Does your families funeral. Worries over the finances, membership, bills, ect. Have his back, support him and his decisions. Encourage and pray for him. Be a cheerful giver. Its not just something that helps your church but it helps you. Whatever you sow you shall reap. More importantly, its a requirement of God. To bring your tithes AND your offerings !! If you dont want a dead church, dont be a dead member. You as well should be prayed up, having fasted and prayed and then come to church not to say bless me if you can .... but enter in with thanksgiving and praise.and worship. Come expecting God to do something powerful. But dont just come to receive something from God but come to give something to Him. He is worthy of your praise. And when the preacher is pouring his heart out, help and encourage him by responding with a Amen ect. Get plenty of rest so you dont come in and be to tired to worship like you should, pay attention like you should, and give a amen like you should. Most of All, all these things dont just apply to your local church but more importantly to God. Be FAITHFUL, SUPPORTIVE, ROOTED, GROUNDED, ON FIRE, COMMITTED to Him !! Every pastor hears this one too,,,, I feel God is done with me here, I think he is leading me over here, I think its time to move on, I think His will is for me to go to another church, I think Im a hindrance here and its time to go......... Look they know you are just bored and just want to go somewhere new. Dont blame it on God Some are never happy anywhere they go. Some are happy until the honeymoon is over and the new had wore off. Some want to go where they can be entertained. Some go where everything is already in place instead of helping establish their own church. Some want to go where they be in charge and dictate but understand God placed the pastor as the head of the church. Anything with two heads is a freak. If you are not truly in love with Him, it will reflect in everything you are in and out of church. I should get an AMEN for some pastor on this. Post and share this on your pastors wall.
