I posted this earlier today and then took it down. I thought, I shouldnt put such graphic stuff on Facebook, itll probably really bother people. But then I just kept thinking about it all day --I couldnt un-see it. As I was thinking about it, I recalled a documentary of a similar nature that I once watched called *The War Photographer.* Ive been watching it for about an hour now and I decided to repost this thing. I decided to mainly because this monologue by James Natchwey in the film. In an interview about his work he remarks: Its more difficult to get publications to focus on issues that are more critical, that do not provide people with an escape from reality but attempt to get them deeper into reality. To be concerned about something much greater than themselves. And I think people are concerned. I think quite often, publishers dont give their audience enough credit for that. In fact, at the end of the day, I believe people do want to know when theres some major tragedy going on; when theres some unacceptable situation happening in this world. And they want something done about it. Thats what I believe. [Why should we look at?] We must look at it. Were required to look at it. Were requited to do what we can about it. If we dont, who will? h/t to Craig Keen for having the bravery to post this thing first.
