I posted this early yesterday morning in another group ... thought I would share here too ! I live in SB by the way. Just some thoughts as we move on to Day 6 of the storm - The magnitude of this storm cannot be understood unless you experience it firsthand which I am doing. It is surreal and somewhat scary. I have never looked at the snow accumulation in my yard & thought how am I ever going to get the driveway & sidewalks cleared. I live on a double lot with a long driveway & a lot of sidewalk. Picture attached It was definitely causing anxiety because I realized it was way too much for me to do myself & once I was out in it, too much for me to ask anyone to do it for me. I am extremely grateful that I stumbled on the WNY Storm Help group - it is there that I found my answer - someone to shovel my sidewalk & a plow service to clear my driveway. They were reasonably priced in my opinion. My sidewalks were shoveled by one guy today & even though I couldt go anywhere but into the street - I had an almost an eerie sense of freedom. I am sure I will feel the same way when my driveway is cleared tomorrow. As i type this i can hear the equipment still working on my street since 1pm !!! Imagine this scenario being repeated on every street in South Bflo ! Crazy - I cant even begin to imagine what it would have been like if the whole city had been affected. The reality of what we are going through here in South Buffalo hit me tonite when I got a text from a friend about an event we had plans to attend in downtown Buffalo. Since everything in my world since last Tuesday has be cancelled & white, I was sure tonites event would also be cancelled. It was not because downtown (a mere 5 miles from me) has no snow. I had to cancel on my friend because of the driving ban & the heavy equipment making my street impassable. Thats when I realized that life was continuing for those outside South Bflo. It was a weird feeling. I have always thought that SB was special & this storm is proof.
