I posted this in response to a friends comment, defending the daughters of President Obama in light of some recent criticism: I agree with you COMPLETELY --- as a Dad I remember times when, because of my position, my daughters were criticized for their appearance - and it always grieved and disappointed me. Many times it was a pathway to criticize me -- sometimes it was simply mean people being mean. I cant think of many common ground matters between me and President Obama - but he strikes me as a very good Dad and husband -- and his daughters are beautiful, smart, and project just the image they are supposed to - they are teenage girls -- I am pretty sure most critics of them have NOT raised teen age girls. I have. I raised three of them. And the Obamas never use their kids as photo ops (like JFK did, but only when Jackie was out of town). The turkey thing is not a big public policy thing -- its a family thing -- like, well, Thanksgiving is;-). The Republican who posted that about the Obama daughters was fired, as she should have been. DONT PICK ON THE KIDS!
