I posted this on my FB page today and thought it was kind of relevant as well as humorous, enjoy: If you practice or follow Yoga, Kirtan, Japa, astrology, Puja, ethical vegetarianism, meditation, Tantra or the teachings of the Buddha...you might be Hindu. If you adhere to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads and/or Yoga Sutras...if you have a belief in Karma & reincarnation, in the principle of Shakti or Goddess, in Avatars and Devas(Hindus angels) or have a belief that the divine is expressed in nature and the cosmos...you might be Hindu. If you believe that the divine is beyond a single unit limited by gender and certain qualities like jealousy and envy, and that the divine is benign and is beyond rewarding and punishing people due to what we choose to believe in...you might be Hindu. If you are doing many of these things, you are actually practicing and/or following Sanatana Dharma or Hinduism. These things dont automatically make you a Hindu, especially if you try to deny it; but dont say that youre too good for or beyond religion, just spiritual...when all your spiritual practices, beliefs, icons and ideas come from the religion of Hinduism. In other words, stop biting off Hinduism in order to be spiritual and to feed your ego or pocket book. Dont claim that your religion is love, unity or any other simplistic emotion or ideal, when all you believe in and all you do, is what Hindus have said and done for thousands of years. Part of being truly spiritual is keeping it real...so keep it real. I welcome any debate or criticism...dont be afraid of me. Im a nice guy.
