I posted this on my personal page. Its worth sharing with you too! Im tired! What a day! About the job fair.... We had a fun afternoon! Less than 30 applicants came, but all were serious about their mission! Its been my experience with the first event at a new venue to not be very populated. I refer to it as an initiation; subsequent events grow. Overall, Im satisfied with the results. We met new people and new employers! We got the employers pumped up for our 4th Annual Job Fair and about moving into our new office. We put out over 100 flyers and advertised on Facebook. When we talked to the job seekers, everyone said they came because of Facebook. Nobody mentioned the flyers. After talking with the employers about advertising methods, the majority recommended yard signs. After the event, we stopped by Preferred Auto in Auburn, Indiana. The manager was more than happy to put up a banner for next years hiring event. And, the manager recommended a sign shop to us for those yard signs. Looking back, I am impressed we were already coming up with improved methods for that community. And for the one or two that were not happy about today, I told them I was very honest - I couldnt guarantee results and Im only one person; but, I believed we would do much better next year. Each event is different, what works for one community doesnt work for another. Because I help job seekers for free, I keep costs low for employers because, I dont feel it is appropriate to capitalize off others hardships. I work from my heart. Always. ~ Maria Miller
