Like a kid who likes his joke so much he tells it again, Ill share this here: Remember when people raked their leaves into curbside piles and lit them? The first flames smelled better than incense; black-orange sparks glowed into the night like small broomstick witches. Neighbors leaned on rakes and chatted in the cool twilight. Throw a few horse chestnuts into a burning pile and await the explosive, pop! Im sure the smoke of all those fires would thicken and blanket the city in a bad smell.
